Hotel Holiday Happenings

As the holiday season approaches, Hotel Ändra welcomes you to our downtown Seattle home base for holiday cheer. The holiday spirit has already begun to spread, with festive lighting that spans from the Seattle Center to Pioneer Square. Step out from our convenient location to many holiday attractions and some of the best dining and shopping the city has to offer.

In the spirit of Hotel Ändra’s Scandinavian heritage, we recommend checking out Julefest at the National Nordic Museum in nearby Ballard, November 20 and 21. It is the 44th annual Nordic holiday celebration that transforms the museum grounds into a traditional outdoor market. Immerse yourself in Nordic cultural music, dance performances, and taste traditional holiday fare. Julefest also features 30+ local artists and vendors, including special holiday items for sale from the museum itself. You may find some of these traditions very familiar in current celebrations.

A few short blocks from our doorstep, catch the sleek and newly remodeled Alweg monorail, built for the 1962 World’s Fair, and in minutes arrive at the famous Seattle Center. Winterfest at the Seattle Center starts November 26. The Space Needle and Armory come alive with beautiful lights and performances, including ice sculpting. Take a moment while there to see the newly opened Climate Pledge Arena, the beautiful sculptures all around the grounds. Illuminated nightly in ice blue and midnight blue lights, the hues honor the city’s newest professional sports team, the NHL’s Seattle Kraken. Also, don’t miss the Space Needle, open daily for a breathtaking view of the city during the holidays–also home of a celebrated fireworks display to ring in the new year.

Some friendly elves have shared with us that the annual tree lighting event happens at the Westlake Center downtown, and this year is no exception. There may even be a very special guest from up north. This rain-or-shine event, held after Thanksgiving, draws thousands of people to see the Christmas tree lighting ceremony, the Macy’s star fireworks-like display, dazzling in the background. A classic carousel, sponsored by the Downtown Seattle Association, adds to the family-friendly fun. Be sure to stroll through the world-famous Pike Place Market, just blocks away, to take in its beautiful holiday decor and to find great, local holiday gifts.

To make your holiday stay even more cheerful, we have designed our Ändra Kultur Package, specifically with the holiday season in mind. If during your stay you plan to visit one of Seattle’s many cultural institutions or events, you will receive 10% off our best available rate at time of booking when you have a ticket stub as proof of attending an event.
