Hotel Ändra’s Commitment to Sustainability

Embark on Hotel Andra’s sustainable journey, where commitment to eco-conscious practices resonates throughout every facet of our operations, reflecting the vibrant spirit of Seattle, one of the greenest cities in the US.

Seattle, A Beacon of Sustainability: Fortunately, Seattle has been a pioneer in sustainability, and as you spend time in this green city, you can feel good knowing that you’re helping to protect the planet. The city recycles more than double the national average, and more than 90 percent of local electricity comes from hydropower. Plastic single-use shopping and carryout bags are banned statewide, and Seattle banned plastic utensils at restaurants and bars in 2018.

Plastic-Free Pledge: Our steadfast commitment to eliminating single-use plastics is evident throughout our establishment. We’ve seamlessly integrated eco-friendly alternatives in guest rooms, dining areas, and operational zones, ensuring that your stay aligns with Seattle’s sustainable ethos.

Eco-Friendly Amenities: We’ve carefully selected Lather as our bath amenities partner due to their dedication to crafting high-quality, natural products with biodegradable formulations and eco-friendly packaging aligns seamlessly with our values. Guests can indulge in luxurious self-care rituals with Lather’s cruelty-free and vegan formulations, thoughtfully provided in refillable dispensers in every guestroom.

Striving for Green Key Certification: Our pursuit of Green Key certification underscores our unwavering dedication to environmental stewardship. Through meticulous assessments of our energy usage, water conservation efforts, waste management strategies, and green initiatives, we aim to meet and exceed global sustainability standards.

Sustainable Sourcing Practices: At Hotel Ändra, we pride ourselves on the locally sourced flavors at our restaurant Lola, which is owned and operated by Chef Tom Douglas. Tom Douglas and his team champion regional farmers and their partnership with Crawford Farms, Neuwaukum Farms, and their own Prosser Farms ensures their kitchens receives the freshest produce, directly supporting regional farmers and minimizing transportation emissions.  This not only enhances the dining experience but also fosters economic growth while minimizing our carbon footprint.

Supporting Salmon Habitat Restoration: We’re proud to contribute to the restoration of salmon habitat through our Tom Douglas partnership with Mid Sound Fisheries. For every sale of his Rub With Love salmon rub, he donates 1% of the proceeds to support their efforts in preserving and enhancing salmon populations in the Pacific Northwest.

Seafood Sustainability: Ensuring the sustainability of our seafood offerings is paramount Chef Tom Douglas. Which is why all of his restaurants adhere to the Monterey Bay Aquarium guide for naturally sustainable seafood, carefully selecting options that align with our shared commitment to environmental stewardship.

Net Zero Emission Objective: Committed to the GAIA 2.0 program, we’re dedicated to achieving net-zero emissions, mirroring Seattle’s ambitious environmental goals. Our approach includes optimizing energy efficiency, harnessing renewable energy sources, and participating in carbon offset initiatives, reaffirming our position as leaders in sustainable hospitality.

Embracing Diversity and Inclusion: Diversity and inclusion are fundamental to our ethos, reflecting the rich tapestry of Seattle’s community. We foster an inclusive environment that mirrors the diversity of the guests we serve, extending equal opportunities across our workforce and beyond.

Engaging with the Community: Our ties with the local community run deep. From supporting cultural endeavors to participating in social initiatives, we actively enrich our surroundings, inviting guests to connect with and appreciate Seattle’s rich culture and heritage during their stay.

Join us in our commitment to ensuring every visit to Hotel Ändra is memorable and environmentally conscious.
